26 September 2009: This is an urgent appeal for help! The Philippines have been hit again with a natural disaster. Heavy flooding in Manila has caused thousands to evacuate their homes. If you have ever been to the Philippines, there are two things you will have noticed: 1) How kind and friendly the people are, and 2) How utterly impoverished so many are.
I have sponsored children in the Philippines since 1996. Children’s International does an outstanding job of community service in Manila and other localities in the Philippines. (See link below if you wish to contribute directly to Children International.). A few years ago, when a super-hurricane devastated southern areas of the Philippines, Children International was there to help communities get back on their feet. Donations that came from the efforts of my students went to building a new school, as an example.
Now, I am asking you to contribute toward relief efforts in Manila. Buy these audio books through this site. Some proceeds from this webpage will go to Children International to help them help the communities in Manila that need it most.
